Jelina Moraine

Jelina's Beginnings

jelina.jpg Jelina’s story is not an uncommon one. Her father and mother raised her together warning her of the evil in the galaxy. Her father’s tales of his life as a slave and her mothers stories of her former owner and tormentor a General in the Caldari Military to whom she was a concubine. These tales seemed horrific and scary to Jelina but they always seemed distant and foreign to her until her 16th birthday when she walked in on her father as he was changing his shirt and saw the scars of the creul whips which had torn up his fair Minmatar skin. Jelina learnt that day that the safety of the republic was not to be trusted that even in these times of peace that her people still suffered at the hands of the evil supposedly ‘superior’ Amarr. All the demons of Jelina’s dreams became real that day and she went off to seek her fortune.

Education

Jelina went to the Republic University to learn of the potential she could provide to the might of the Minmatar Navy. It soon became apparent to her that the Minmatar hierarchy was interested in little more than brokering peace and negotiation with the slavers she was sworn to destroy. Distraught Jelina fell in league with various dubious individuals and became a black market trader whilst still studying. One such individual was the son of a infamous pirate and blaggard who encouraged her to start smuggling narcotics into empire space. After a torrid relationship with him ending when he slapped her round the face and she floored him she sought her own way in the systems round the University. She sold mind altering substances and toys for the rich who used them to satisfy their wanton and bloated needs. She learnt the back ways and to avoid republic customs detection and made quite a name for herself before she was finally caught by an eager official hell bent on catching the notorious “Black Widow” as she had become known. Her Cardinal mistake was to use a drop off in Abudban which was a known customs hotspot but she had got used to outrunning them. This time however they were ready for her and caught her with a shipment of holoreels of dubious narcotic promotions. Jelina was thrown out of the University which she now cared little about.

Abandoned

Her parents were bitterly disappointed in her and even her claims that the money she was making was to setup a starbase in Amamake to help fight against slavery on the fringes of the republic only lead to her stashes confiscation and her parents refusing to talk to her. Jelina distraught returned to trading but now watched eagerly by the republic forces she knew she had to stay legitimate which meant earning very very slowly. Her former Lover had contacted her and offered the slim hope of some ‘safe’ illegal activity but a day later she learnt it had not been so safe for him when he became the recipient of a small phased plasma round to the chest during negotiations for some cheese.

Murientor Rising

About a week after leaving the university and a few minor pirate scuffles she received a cryptic mail from a source within the Ushra’Khan alliance inviting her to contact them if she wanted to ‘Fight Slavery’. Warily Jelina sent a reply and entered into a discussion with this mysterious person and was invited to apply to the Murientor Tribe based in a constellation they referred to as Santir within the Derelik system. She went quickly under instruction and learnt to fight the local pirate threat in the area improving her skills until she finally got a taste of slaver blood.

Kidnapped

With the move to Providence Jelina took on the role of starbase support and then manager until she was kidnapped while on hauling duty. Her past had caught up with her and the vagabond who’s son she had an alliance with at University blamed her for his death and had decided to donate her to a slave lord of his acquaintance. Jelina was rescued by a somewhat dubious organisation known as Black Friday a corporation who operate outside normal channels.

Mysterious Payoff

Jelina knows she owes them a favour, she knows she will never be asked to betray the Murientor or Ushra’Khan but someday they will ask for that favour and she cannot refuse or risk worse than if she had never been rescued.
